What do I need to know for my appointment?

  • WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?

2-3 weeks is my normal turnaround time. If you need things done quickly, there is a $100 rush fee for formal items and a $40 rush fee for everyday items.

  • DO YOU TAKE MEASUREMENTS?

Yes! I can email you an easy-to-read chart of your measurements if you ask me to take them during your fitting for $5!

  • WHY DO YOU DO ALTERATIONS?

I believe that the way you feel in your clothes is important to the everyday experience of life. Clothes are endlessly changeable, so why live with clothes you don't love?

  • WHAT CAN YOU WORK ON/NOT WORK ON?

Most things can be repaired and altered. I am happy to work on things that aren't garments, like blankets or bags! The only limitation I have is the thickness of material. Heavy leather and heavy denim are too thick for me to sew. If you're trying to decide if the material is too thick, bring it in to your appointment, and we can discuss!

  • WHAT IF IT DOESN'T FEEL QUITE RIGHT WHEN I TRY IT ON?

I want that feedback- it’s no big deol! Alterations are not an exact science, but a persistent effort in making you feel great in your clothes. Pinning a garment tightly can feel more comfortable with safety pins than when it's sewn, and taking in another 1/2" can feel like a very small but important difference. Adjustments are included, so let's get adjusting!

  • WHAT ARE MY PAYMENT OPTIONS?

My alterations include adjustments, so I don’t take payment until all adjustments have been completed and the items are ready to be taken home. If you cannot pay in full at the time of completed alterations, you can pre-pay in installments before and up to the time your items are finished. I accept cash, Venmo, and card.

cat warning: I sew from my home studio, where I live with my two cats. I try my best to keep them separate from my work area and lint-roll all items before they are returned, but if you have a cat allergy, take this into consideration and let me know so I can keep your items in a sealed bag.

commitment to gender inclusivity & body positive language

I love people who are brave enough to express themselves through their clothing. Showing up in society is hard enough as it is, and showing your truest self through your everyday clothing choices is a real act of self love. I make a concerted effort to support people of all gender expressions through use of non-gendered language and by trying to broaden everyone’s understanding of gender through and despite clothing.

I do not agree with people who view their body as an enemy. Clothing is not meant to restrict and hide us away- it is meant to help us shine in our truest form, and that form is always worth celebrating. I do not condone negative body talk, and make it a mission to talk about alterations in a way that is loving towards all our bodies.
